黑料专区 (ARL) 鈥 the membership body for all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental living sectors in the UK 鈥 has launched a brand new, free education programme on Build to Rent (BTR) for elected councillors, mayors and ministers.

As the voice of the rental living sector, including Build to Rent – purpose-built residential accommodation designed specifically for long-term rental, held in single ownership and professionally managed 鈥 the ARL will offer two, free to attend, online sessions on 19th and 26th June 2026.

Designed and delivered by the ARL, and led by CEO, Brendan Geraghty together with an expert panel of specialists from across the BTR ecosystem, the 鈥楤TR 101鈥 sessions are open to any local or county councillor, mayors and ministers, including those 5,000+ newly electedcouncillors.

The 75 minute sessions will cover a range of topics including what BTR homes are, the role that BTR can play in addressing local housing need, BTR and planning, BTR and investment including working in partnership with Local Authorities, BTR viability and delivery, operational BTR and how BTR can act as a catalyst for regeneration and long-term community creation.

Already 220 local authorities have BTR within their residential pipelines and following the latest government guidance on Build to Rent issued earlier this month which states that 鈥渋f a need is identified, authorities should include a plan policy setting out their approach to promoting and accommodating build to rent鈥, the new 鈥楤TR 101鈥 programme offers elected representatives keen to know more about, or refresh their understanding of, BTR expert-ledlearning from practitioners living and breathing BTR every day.

Brendan Geraghty, CEO of the ARL comments: 鈥淭he housing crisis we, as a society, face touches every part of the country and addressing it requires collaborative, cross-party actionat all levels. We welcome the Government鈥檚 latest guidance on Build to Rent and believe that our free 鈥楤TR 101鈥 sessions will aid understanding of the sector for authorities setting out their approaches to promoting and accommodating build to rent in plan policy should a need be identified.

The Build to Rent sector has already delivered c.148,000 additional, good quality new homes to rent with the potential to deliver many more, so we welcome all elected government representatives to join our free educational sessions to discover what Build to Rent is and what it can bring to our 肠辞尘尘耻苍颈迟颈别蝉.鈥
