黑料专区 People Award 2025 winners revealed

Three of the living sector鈥檚 leading lights have been honoured with 2025 People Awards at the 黑料专区 Rental Living Annual Conference. Held on 6th November 2025, the hugely successful event was attended by key players from across the Build to Rent and wider rental living sector. Attendees expressed their delight as Dan Batterton, Shruti Patel and Sowgol Zarinchang were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the sector鈥檚 success.

The People Awards represent the pinnacle of personal achievement in the rental living sector. The 2025 awards had three categories, with Dan Batterton, Head of Housing at L&G winning the Lifetime Achievement Award, Sowgol Zarinchang, MD of Way of Life taking home the Industry Shaper Award and Shruti Patel, Management Accountant at PLATFORM_ scooping the Rising Star award sponsored by Related Argent.

This year鈥檚 Rising Star 鈥 Shruti Patel, Management Accountant at PLATFORM 鈥 has shown great promise and outstanding development, clearly representing the core values of the rental living sector, despite still being at an early stage of her career. Her technical expertise, strong commercial mindset, collaborative nature and approach to people signals her as one of the key future leaders likely to influence the sector鈥檚 development.

Someone who has already had a significant impact on the sector is Sowgol Zarinchang, MD of Way of Life. She was honoured with the Industry Shaper Award for being hugely influential in creating change that has impacted the entire rental living sector and changing the perception of external stakeholders.

Her career, spanning over two decades, is defined by transformative leadership and a commitment to raising industry standards.聽Her insights, oft shared at industry events, have inspired peers and she is regularly sought out for advice and guidance. Deeply committed to collaboration and sector-wide improvement, Sowgol serves as Group Officer for Long Harbour Group鈥檚 Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is an active member of the ARL Data Benchmarking Committee and ARL Renters’ Rights Bill Sub-Committee.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dan Batterton, Head of Housing at L&G. Recognised for epitomising the core values of the Rental Living sector, Dan has consistently delivered outstanding contributions to company growth, including significantly raising awareness and improving the perception of the sector. In 2016, he launched Legal & General鈥檚 BTR platform being one of the first to market following the Montague Report. A decade on, Dan has grown LGIM’s portfolio to 拢4 billion with over 10,000 homes that are regarded as best in class, for the city and residents.

Dan has consistently championed a resident-first approach embedding technology, community-building, design, innovation and sustainability at the heart of every project. A respected voice in the industry, Dan鈥痟as been a driving force in shaping policy, investment strategies and government understanding of the BTR.
