BTR investors voice positive support for building safety at ARL hosted roundtable event with Dame Judith Hackitt

Leading Build to Rent (BTR) investors have voiced positive support for building safety at an 黑料专区 (ARL) hosted roundtable, supporting participant Dame Judith Hackitt鈥檚 long-standing principle that 鈥渁 safe building is a sound investment鈥.

The ARL roundtable event on 30th October, made possible through the generous support of Dame Judith Hackitt, Former Chair of the Health & Safety Executive, and author of the Hackitt Report on Building Safety, leading investors in the BTR sector, and the collaborative efforts of the , , and , a WTW business, explored how proactive leadership can transform building safety compliance into competence, and regulation into opportunity.

The closed event saw over 30 senior UK real estate investors and lenders in BTR come together to provide positive dialogue with Dame Judith Hackitt to aid understanding on the key issues around investment and delivery of building safety in BTR.

Alongside investor support for Dame Judith Hackitt鈥檚 principle that 鈥渁 safe building is a sound investment鈥, the roundtable – the latest ARL activity to help influence cultural change around building safety and gain recognition of the BTR sector with politicians, policy makers and regulators – covered:

  • How the Building Safety Act impacts investment and lending decisions
  • The legal obligations of developers and owners
  • The role of investors in delivering safe, high-quality buildings
  • How collaboration can drive a new culture of safety and accountability across the industry

Strong roundtable support for the Building Safety Act, the certainty it brings on build quality, and desire to see it implemented in full was evident, however participants were also clear that the industry remains in a challenging transition phase and made five calls to the Government and the Building Safety Regulator to remove uncertainty, improve outcomes and reduce delays.
